anti-plagiarism software

Salon.com Technology | New software detects plagiarized passages
Salon.com (requires paid registration, or you can watch an add for a day pass) reports about a new anti-plagiarism software package from iparadigm called LLC. Rather than searching for keywords like you would do in Google, it takes a digital fingerprint of the entire document and searches sources on the internet as well as other sources including proprietary academic databases looking for matches. It is currently being used by agencies such as the UN Security Council, as well as many academic institutions.
