Library Journal Reports on Gormangate

Library Journal just posted this article

Gorman said that the response to his piece has called his attention to some “wonderful” bloggers. Unfortunately, he added, most of those who wrote him were not so wonderful: “The majority of my correspondents believe that I either wish them to desist from blogging and/or have the power to make them stop.”

I for one, wrote Mr. Gorman with my real name, title, etc. I find it hard to believe that anyone really thought that Michael Gorman had any power to make them stop blogging. This strikes me as just another attempt to depict bloggers as ignorant simpletons who are not worthy to comment on Mr. Gorman’s infallible ideology. At least he seems to have recognized that he has upset a large number of people, unfortunately, it seems that like many people in positions of authority, he is incapable of, or unwilling to, admit a mistake, and will certainly never apologize for his insensitive and mean-spirited comments.
